Ranked nationally at No. 24 in this week's United Soccer Coaches poll, the Boilermakers are coming off an 8-2-0 Big Ten slate and a runner-up finish, both tied for their best-ever marks. The squad had won six of their last seven and three in a row before a Big Ten semifinal defeat to Michigan, the eventual tournament champions, on November 4.
Eighteen players have earned at least a point, tied for the most in the Big Ten, and 16 have at least one assist, tied for second-most. Eleven Boilermakers have scored a goal, tied for fourth-most in the conference. Purdue boasts a 35-20 advantage in goal differential, including 24-10 in the second half and 2-0 in overtime.
The Boilermakers are second in the Big Ten with a .836 save percentage and 5.10 saves per game, while they are third with 35 goals, 40 assists and 110 points.
Individually, senior forward Sarah Griffith is No. 2 nationally with 2.58 shots on goal per game, No. 5 with 15 goals and 4.79 shots per game, No. 15 with five game-winning goals and No. 17 with 32 points. Senior goalkeeper Marisa Bova is 21st in the NCAA with 1,836.23 minutes, and she leads the Big Ten with 97 saves and is second with a .829 save percentage.
Additionally, sophomore midfielder Emily Mathews and freshman forward Gracie Dunaway have a team-high-tying seven assists, which is fourth in the Big Ten. Mathews also is second on the team with five goals and 17 points.
