5 Receive Easton/NFCA All-America Scholar-Athlete Honors

Five members of the Purdue softball team earned 2021 Easton/NFCA All-America Scholar-Athlete honors, announced by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association.

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Five members of the Purdue softball team earned 2021 Easton/NFCA All-America Scholar-Athlete honors, announced by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association.

Receiving honors were Alex Echazarreta, Kaeley Hallada, Kasey Wilhoit, Kendall Chase and Rachel Becker, who each achieved a cumulative grade point average of at least a 3.5 in the 2020-21 academic year. Additionally, all four were recognized earlier this year as Academic All-Big Ten honorees and four (Becker, Chase, Hallada and Wilhoit) received Big Ten Distinguished Scholar nods for earning a GPA of 3.7 or higher.

In total, 13 Boilermakers from the softball team earned Academic All-Big Ten honors. Meanwhile, Becker was also awarded All-Big Ten Frist Team and CoSIDA Academic All-District First Team accolades.
