MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – The Purdue men's tennis team dropped its Friday night road contest at Minnesota 6-1.
The lone Boilermaker point came from the No. 1 singles spot in Mateo Julio. The senior outlasted Jackson Allen deep into a super tiebreaker to win 4-6, 7-6(3), 12-10.
Purdue also picked up a doubles set when Julio and Andre Suzanne paired up for a 6-3 win over Siim Troost and Daniel Martin at No. 3, but the Golden Gophers took the opening point with a 7-5 win at No. 1 and 6-4 victory at No. 2.
In singles play, Sebastian Welch dropped a tiebreaker in the first set to Dylan Heap, before falling in straight sets 7-6(6), 6-1.
