WEST LAFAYETTE- Ind. – Purdue volleyball junior Jael Johnson was tabbed the Big Ten Player of the Week after a pair of sweeps over Iowa (Jan. 29-30).
Over the weekend, Johnson went errorless while averaging 2.67 kills per set (16 total kills) and a .593 hitting clip. In Saturday's victory over Iowa, the middle blocker produced a .684 hitting percentage, which stands as the best mark by a Big Ten player in a match this season. Her 13 kills against Iowa (1/30/21) were a career-best, marking the second consecutive week Johnson produced a career-best.
Johnson rounded out the second week of play with 2.92 points per set and three block assists (0.50 per set).
It is the first Big Ten weekly honor of Johnson's career and marks the first Big Ten Player of the Week honoree for Purdue since Grace Cleveland on Oct. 28, 2019.
