WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – For the first time in 21 seasons, the Purdue men's basketball program sold out every game in Mackey Arena, resulting in a school-record average attendance and a No. 16 national ranking in attendance according to the official NCAA attendance numbers released Friday.
Purdue averaged 14,804 fans for its 16 home games to rank fifth in the Big Ten. Purdue was one of nine schools nationally to sell out every game for the 2019-20 season.
Despite having the 31st-largest capacity in college basketball, Purdue has ranked in the top 20 in average attendance in each of the last five seasons.
Purdue was 14th in total attendance across all sites (home, away, neutral) as 418,500 fans watched Purdue basketball this past season.
For the 44th consecutive season, the Big Ten led the nation's conferences in attendance, drawing 2,999,244 fans through the turnstiles, the second-highest total in conference history (2015). The Big Ten averaged 12,709 fans per game, which was 1,521 fans per game more than the second-place league (SEC). The Big Ten's average of 12,709 fans per game was its highest average since the 2014-15 season.
