WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Big Ten Conference released the 2021 wrestling schedule on the final day of 2020, unveiling the seven regular season contents for Purdue. The Boilermakers open their slate on Friday, Jan. 15, hosting Northwestern for a dual in Holloway Gymnasium.
"It's fantastic to finally have a schedule and start preparing for an actual date," said Purdue head coach Tony Ersland. "The guys have been working for months, with no end goal in sight, but now they have an actual target date to be ready to go. We couldn't be more excited."
The Boilermakers will host three events for 2021, opening with the Wildcats in two weeks, hosting Iowa and Ohio State for a tri-dual on Feb. 7, and closing out the regular season against archrival Indiana on Feb. 21.
Purdue will have four road contests in 2021, heading to Illinois and then Wisconsin on Jan. 22 and 24, respectively, flying east to Rutgers for a tri-dual with the Scarlet Knights and Minnesota, and heading north to Michigan State on Feb. 12.
The Big Ten Championships are slated for March 6-7 at Penn State, while the NCAA Championships return to St. Louis at the Enterprise Center on March 17-19.
The Boilermakers are coming off of a 12-5 dual season in 2019-20, which featured a 5-4 Big Ten record and a fifth-place team showing at the conference tournament. Seven Purdue wrestlers have earned preseason rankings from the various outlets, including a pair of top-five ranked individuals in senior Devin Schroder and sophomore Kendall Coleman.
All dual dates are subject to change per Big Ten Network coverage and mutual institutional agreement, and times will be determined and announced with the television schedule.
