After waiting a full week to play its second game, the Purdue women's basketball team continues its early season homestand at Mackey Arena on Sunday afternoon against Valparaiso at 2 p.m.

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. After waiting a full week to play its second game, the Purdue women's basketball team continues its early season homestand at Mackey Arena on Sunday afternoon against Valparaiso at 2 p.m.

The Boilermakers will look to improve to 2-0 on the year after knocking off North Alabama last Sunday, 80-69. Tamara Farquhar, in her first game in more than 10 months, dropped a career-high 19 points to go along with nine rebounds. Kayana Traylor tallied 18 points, while Jenelle Grant chipped in 10 points off the bench.

A trio of Boilermakers made their debuts against the Lions. Freshman Ra Shaya Kyle tallied 16 points and nine rebounds in an efficient eight minutes of action. The Marion native had the most rebounds by a rookie in a debut since Sam Ostarello's 12 against Western Illinois in 2009. Brookie Moore notched four points and three assists in her first time out for Purdue. Freshman Madison Layden finished with five rebounds and a game-high plus-minus of 16.

NOTES
• The Boilermakers are 11-1 all-time against the Crusaders.
• Junior Ajah Stallings made her first career start in the season opener, going for a career-long 31 minutes.
• Kyle's six offensive rebounds ranks fifth in the nation in offensive rebounds per game.
• Purdue went to the line 31 times against North Alabama, converting 21 attempts, matching the 2019-20 season high
• The attempts were the most since a 20-for-31 outing against Purdue Fort Wayne back in 2018.
• The Boilermakers continued a trend from last season of holding opponents below their season averages in scoring and field goal percentage, keeping North Alabama nearly 10 points before its season tally.
• Traylor led the team with four assists in the season opener, marking the 30th game of her career topping the team.
• Despite just shooting 1-for-13 from distance, the Boilermakers shot 50% from the field over the final 20 minutes.
