WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The final piece of Purdue's non-conference schedule has been finalized as head coach Matt Painter has announced that the Boilermakers will host Oakland on Dec. 1, in Mackey Arena.
The contest will be the home opener for the Boilermakers and will come after opening the season in Melbourne, Florida, for the Space Coast Challenge.
Purdue and Oakland will meet for the first time since Nov. 21, 2010, an 82-67 Purdue win. The only other meeting came in Dec. 2001, an 89-71 Boilermaker victory.
Oakland posted a 14-19 record last season, including an 8-10 record in the Horizon League. The Golden Grizzlies return just two of their five scorers from last season, but head coach Greg Kampe welcomes back leading scorer Rashad Williams, a 6-foot, 2-inch guard that averaged 19.5 points and made 61 3-pointers in 15 games last season.
Oakland averaged 67.8 points per game while allowing 69.7 points per outing during the 2019-20 season.
Oakland Greg Kampe enters his 37th year at Oakland, amassing a 632-474 record with the school. He led Oakland to NCAA Tournaments in 2005, 2010 and 2011, as well as NCAA Division II Tournaments in 1994, 1995, 1996 and 1997.
