WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – With a new semester just underway, the Purdue athletics department charges into the spring with a full head of steam. Boilermaker student-athletes posted a fall semester-record 3.09 GPA as a group in 2019 and holds a department-record 3.13 cumulative GPA as classes begin in 2020.
Purdue student-athletes have held a cumulative GPA over 3.0 for 22 consecutive semesters.
The women's swimming and diving team earned the President's Cup for the highest semester GPA in the fall at 3.62, while the men's basketball team took the Provost's Award for the most improved GPA from the previous term.
Individually, 36 Boilermaker student-athletes achieved a perfect 4.0 in the fall semester, while 59 percent were at 3.0 or higher. In total, 189 student-athletes earned academic honors in the fall (Dean's List and/or semester honors).
Purdue opened its spring semester Monday.
