Boilermakers Open B1G Tournament Thursday

The Purdue women's basketball team will open the 2020 Big Ten Conference Tournament presented by SoFi on Thursday at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis. The No. 9 Boilermakers will start their pursuit of a league-record 10th tournament title against eighth-seeded Michigan State at noon.

The No. 9 Boilermakers will start their pursuit of a league-record 10th tournament title against eighth-seeded Michigan State at noon.

Chris Vosters, Vera Jones and Christy Winters Scott will have the call on the Big Ten Network. As always, Tim Newton and Jane Schott will carry the radio broadcast on 95.3 BOB FM.

The Boilermakers enter the 2020 edition of the Big Ten Conference Tournament with an all-time record of 44-16. Purdue has won nine tournament championships, including four in the head coach Sharon Versyp era. The Boilermakers have reached the quarterfinals three of the last four seasons.

Ae'Rianna Harris, Dominique Oden and Karissa McLaughlin all received postseason honors by the Big Ten. Harris was tabbed First Team All-Big Ten for the first time in her career, as well as her third pick to the all-defensive squad. Oden received her third career nod from the conference as All-Big Ten honorable mention. McLaughlin was named All-Big Ten honorable mention.

NOTES
• The Boilermakers lead the all-time series against Michigan State 41-34, including a 4-1 mark in the Big Ten Conference.
• Purdue split a pair of games with the Spartans this season, with both clubs winning on the road.
• McLaughlin snapped out of a cold streak against Ohio State with four 3-pointers and a team-high 18 points.
• Oden is just 17 minutes away from taking over the program record for minutes played and one start shy of Danielle Campbell's record of 130.
• Harris owns Purdue's Big Ten Tournament record with eight blocked shots from her freshman campaign in 2017.
Fatou Diagne closed the regular season with 7.6 points and 6.9 rebounds per game over the last seven outings.
• The Boilermakers have played three games at a neutral site this season, reaching the championship game of the Gulf Coast Showcase, going 2-1 in the tournament and shooting 40.5%.
• Purdue is seeded ninth for the first time in program history. The Boilermakers have been seeded outside the top eight three times.
• On Tuesday night, head coach Sharon Versyp was named a Woman of Distinction by the YWCA of Greater Lafayette and inducted into the 2020 class of the YWCA Salute to Women Hall of Fame.
• Purdue is 1-1 at the Big Ten Conference Tournament against the No. 8 seed. With a win, the Boilermakers will square off with conference co-champions and No. 1 seed Maryland on Friday at noon.
