WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The women's golf team will open its spring schedule Sunday at the 14th-annual UCF Challenge in Orlando, Florida. The three-day, 54-hole event will be played at Eagle Creek Golf Club.
 
Purdue will send six golfers to the event, including a pair of newcomers in Kan Bunnabodee and Daniela Ballesteros. The pair of freshmen enrolled at Purdue in January for the spring semester. Sophomore Danielle du Toit, senior Micaela Farah, freshman Sifat Sagoo and junior Inez Wanamarta competed in all three of the Boilers' fall tournaments.
 
This is Purdue's second straight season competing at the UCF Challenge. The field includes four top 15 teams in the latest Golfstat rankings in No. 3 Kent State, No. 13 Michigan State, No. 14 Illinois and No. 15 Oklahoma State.

Averaged 4.83 strokes on par 5 holes in the fall … Had a team-high two eagles and was second on the team with 21 birdies in the fall … After opening the Windy City Collegiate Classic with a five-over 77 in the first round, rallied for back-to-back one-under 71s over the final 36 holes to finish with a team-best score of 219 (77-71-71). The three-over par effort placed du Toit in a tie for 29th in the individual standings. She finished the two-day classic with a Purdue-best 12 birdies … Finished the Illini Invitational tied for 62nd with a three-round score of 227 (75-72-80).
 
  • Micaela Farah, Senior
Averaged a team-best 73.56 strokes per round in the fall … Had a team-high 24 birdies in the fall … Overcame a first-round 79 in the Windy City Collegiate Classic with back-to-back rounds of even par to wrap up the two-day event in a tie with teammate Sifat Sagoo at 223 (79-72-72). Farah offset five bogies with five birdies in the final round to finish at 72 for the day … Recorded a one-over 73 in the final round of the Illini Invitational for a three-round total of 220 (74-73-73) and a tie for 34th in the individual standings … Carded a team-best 219 (73-71-75) at the Landfall Tradition to finish tied for 26th in the individual standings.
 
  • Sifat Sagoo, Freshman
Carded Purdue's lowest round in the fall, shooting a two-under 70 in the final round of the Windy City Collegiate Classic … Sagoo, who was nine-over heading into the third round of the Windy City, wrapped up the 54-hole classic seven-over at 223 (74-79-70) to finish in a tie for 49th place in her first collegiate tournament … After opening the first and second rounds of the Illini Invitational with back-to-back even-par rounds of 72, Sagoo recorded a three-over 75 in the final round to close the invitational tied for 26th with a total of 219.
 
  • Inez Wanamarta, Junior
Closed in a tie for 35th in the individual standings at the Windy City Classic with a 220 (71-76-73). Shot a one-under 71 in the opening round … Posted the Boilermakers' lowest third-round score of the Illini Invitational with an even-par 72 score. Balanced two early bogies with a pair of birdies and 14 pars on the final day. Her three-round total of 223 (75-76-72) placed her in a tie for 47th individually.

THE COURSE
A par-72, 6,349-yard course, Eagle Creek Golf Club has played host to the Knights' annual event for the last six seasons. Designed by Ron Garl and Howard Swan, it is part of a group of designated "Audubon International Silver Signature" courses, featuring more than 90 white sand bunkers and dramatic bulkheads embracing water hazards and greens, all nestled beneath a canopy of towering trees and foliage.

PURDUE AT THE UCF CHALLENGE
The Boilermakers made their debut in the event last season, finishing sixth in the team standings at eight-under par, 856. Farah wrapped up the challenge fifth individually, carding a career-best 54-hole tournament score of seven-under, 209 (69-69-71). Du Toit tied for 20th in the individual standings with a two-under, 214 (71-71-72). Wanamarta shot a six-over, 222 (73-76-73), to finish tied for 68th.
