The Boilermakers return to West Lafayette after a five-match road swing to start the year. Purdue split a pair of matches at the Arthur Ashe Invitational in West Point, N.Y., before Athell Bennett notched a win over the No. 5 player in the nation during Purdue's win against Notre Dame. Purdue then closed its ITA Kickoff Weekend with a clutch 4-3 victory against Utah, with Sebastian Welch clinching the match at No. 5.
Bennett, ranked No. 45 in the ORACLE/ITA polls, has a 3-2 mark at No. 1 singles this season and a 2-3 mark in doubles play. Mateo Julio and Sebastian Welch have proved to be a solid pairing at No. 3 doubles with a perfect 2-0 mark.
DePaul enters the weekend with a mark of 1-2. Following a season-opening win against Illinois-Chicago, the Blue Demons dropped back-to-back matches to Wisconsin and Green Bay. Toledo is 2-4 on the year with wins over Wright State and Dayton. DePaul and Toledo will square off at the Schwartz Tennis Center.
