COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Purdue men's tennis team dropped its opening match of the ITA Kickoff Weekend to No. 6 Ohio State 4-0.
The Boilermakers dropped the opening doubles point despite Mateo Julio and Sebastian Welch leading their match against Kyle Seelig and Cannon Kingsley at No. 3 5-3 when play was stopped.
In singles action, Maksymilian Raupuk was the lone Boilermaker to take a set in the match. The Polish international led his match 7-6, 2-3 at No. 3 at the conclusion of play.
At No. 2 Mateo Julio pushed No. 16-ranked Kingsley to a tiebreak in the opening set but fell 7-6(2), 6-2. Michal Wozniak was on the path to even his matchup with No. 28-ranked Seelig at one set apiece at No. 4, but play was stopped with the match score at 6-2, 4-5.
The Boilermakers will play at 10 a.m. on Sunday against the loser of Utah and Tulsa.
