WEST LAFAYETTE, IND. – The Purdue women's golf team opens its 2019-20 season in the Windy City Collegiate Classic at Glen View Club in Golf, Illinois. Northwestern's annual event features a power-packed field that includes 13 of the 15 participating teams either ranked or receiving votes in the latest Women's Golf Coaches Association top 25 poll.
The two-day event begins Monday, Sept. 30, and concludes Tuesday, Oct. 1, on the 6,368-yard, par-72 course.
The Boilermakers taking part include senior Micaela Farah, juniors Lauren Guiao and Inez Wanamarta, sophomore Danielle du Toit and true freshman Sifat Sagoo. Sophomore RuQing Guan will participate as an individual.

Second team All-Big Ten honoree … Played in all 13 varsity events in her rookie season, averaging 73.64 strokes over 36 rounds, good for the No. 3 freshman stroke average all-time at Purdue … Set a Boilermaker freshman record with 17 rounds of par or better, tied for fifth-most in a season all-time at Purdue, and tied for the most rounds in the 60's by a Purdue freshman … Posted six top-20 individual finishes, including three top-10 performances.
Averaged 74.08 strokes over 13 varsity events and 36 rounds … Posted the Boilermakers' low score in 12-of-36 rounds and had the team's low tournament score three times, including the NCAA Norman Regional … Had two top-10 tournament performances and six top-20 efforts, shooting 13 rounds of par or better … Tied Purdue's single-season record with six rounds in the 60's, including a career-low mark of five-under 67 in the opening round of the Illini Women's Invitational … Led the team with 418 pars, and posted the squad's low average on par 3's, logging 3.02 strokes per hole … Tied for fifth place at the NCAA Norman Regional, finishing three-under par (70-69-74=213).

THE COURSE
Glen View Club – Par 72, 6,368 yards
The initial golf course was designed by Richard Leslie, the club's first golf professional, in consultation with member and golf course architect, Herbert J. Tweedie in 1897. William S. Flynn was commissioned for a redesign in 1922. Over the ensuing ninety years, Glen View Club's golf course, like most historic clubs, underwent a series of evolutions. In 2013, award-winning architect, Jim Urbina, was contracted as the club's current golf course partner, and most of Flynn's original design elements were restored.

PURDUE IN THE WINDY CITY COLLEGIATE CLASSIC
Purdue has played in 10 of the 11 Windy City Collegiate Classics, including an eighth-place effort in last year's loaded field that featured five of the top-10 teams in the nation. The Boilermakers won the first three Windy City tournaments (2008-10), led by individual champions Numa Gulyanamitta (2008 and 2010) and Maude-Aimee LeBlanc (2009).
