Purdue downs DePaul 3-0 to move to 3-0-0 on the season

CHICAGO – The Purdue women's soccer team extended its winning streak to three consecutive games after a 3-0 win at DePaul. With the victory, the Boilermakers remain unbeaten with a 3-0-0 record heading into its second road test of the season.

All three goals were secured by underclassmen in the second half. The game-winner was recorded by Hannah Melchiorre in the 54th minute from a pass by Sarah Griffith. Two freshmen followed with the first collegiate goals: Leanna Rebimbas nutmegged the DePaul goalkeeper (67'), followed by Sydney Sparks on a SC Top 10-worthy shot from mid-field (77').

It is the first time since August of 2015 at the Boilermakers have scored at least three goals in two consecutive games, however Purdue has not done so in shutout fashion since 2007.

This season, seven Boilermakers have tallied a goal through the first three games.
 
4th Minute
The Boilermakers had a good look in their offensive zone, but the would-be shot opportunity by Hannah Melchiorre was called offside.
 
27th Minute
Sarah Griffith collided with the Blue Demon goalkeeper over 20 yards from the net. Griffith goes down and the DePaul keeper receives a yellow card for the conduct.
 
54th Minute
Sarah Griffith made a pass down the field to Hannah Melchiorre. Melchiorre posted a shot from just about eight yards out scores.
67th Minute
On a pass from Sydney Duarte, Rebimbas nutmegs the goalkeeper at the top right of the Blue Demon box to score. It is the first of Rembimbas' career.
 
77th Minute
Purdue earned a direct kick near the midfield line, which Sparks took. On the direct kick, Sparks sent a perfectly-placed ball over the DePaul goalkeeper's head and buries it in the top left corner of the net.
 
Purdue will be back in action Sunday, as they take on the Iowa State Cyclones in Ames, Iowa, at 2 p.m. ET.
