Trio Named Big Ten Golfers to Watch

Juniors Cole Bradley, Jason Hong and Joe Weiler have been named to the Big Ten's Golfers to Watch list.

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Juniors Cole Bradley, Jason Hong and Joe Weiler have been named to the Big Ten's Golfers to Watch list, the league office announced today.

Bradley was selected to the watch list for the second time, while Hong and Weiler were named for the first time.

Bradley returns for his junior season after appearing in every event during his first two years on campus. A year ago, he ranked third on the team in stroke average at 72.57, the seventh-lowest average in Purdue history. He finished with 18 rounds of even-par or better and seven rounds in the 60s, the fifth most ever at Purdue. He recorded back-to-back top-10 finishes during the fall season, including a third-place showing at the Chatham Hills Collegiate.

Hong, a native of Australia, has had an outstanding preseason camp and looks to return to his form from his freshman campaign. He appeared in nine events last year, averaging 75.00 strokes per round, but showed his potential with a T-3rd placing at the Boilermaker Invitational. As a freshman, he placed T-23rd at the NCAA Regional and recorded four top-20 finishes during his rookie campaign.

Joe Weiler, a Bloomington resident, also had an outstanding summer, winning the Indiana State Amateur Championship while finishing tied for fifth at the Indiana Open. He averaged 74.26 strokes per round a year ago and recorded a counting score in 27 of 34 rounds.

The Boilermakers will open the season this weekend at the Harris Island Intercollegiate in Harris, Michigan. First- and second-round action will take place Sunday, Sept. 1.
