Griffith Sinks Game-Winner in Exhibition

Sarah Griffith scored the lone goal in Purdue's 1-0 exhibition victory over UW-Milwaukee Tuesday night.

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The Purdue women's soccer team opened exhibition play with a 1-0 victory against UW-Milwaukee on Tuesday evening.

Junior Sarah Griffith broke the scoring drought by notching the game-winner in the 83rd minute. The Boilermaker closed out the day with two shots, tying a team-high with freshman forward Leanna Rebimbas.

In addition to Rebimbas, fellow freshmen Sydney Sparks and Chloe Woodbeck saw action on Folk Field during the opener, including a full  90 minutes from Sparks.

A total of 10 Boilermakers recorded a shot in the Purdue victory. In total, the Boilermakers out-shot the Panthers 12-5.
 
1st Minute
Rebimbas takes the first shot of the game, forcing a save by the UW-Milwaukee goalkeeper. The Boilermakers continued to pressure the Panther defense after Hannah Melchiorre earned another shot, which went high and over the crossbar.

3rd Minute
UW-Milwaukee secured the first corner kick of the game. No shot was earned off the kick.

16th Minute
After back-and-forth in the midfield, Purdue recorded its first corner kick. Captain Sarah Clark took the kick, resulting in a blocked shot by Skylurr Patrick.

70th Minute
Milwaukee earned a breakaway. Sophomore keeper Marisa Bova came off her line to cut off the one-on-one attack. On the Panther shot, Bova made the save.

83rd Minute
In the 83rd minute, Sarah Griffith came down the center of the field, faked out the defender at the top of the 18, and scored (unassisted).

90th Minute
The game concluded with pressure on the Boilermaker defense as the Panthers looked for one last rally. On a ball that was served into the Purdue box, a yellow card was issued to Milwaukee's McKenna Stratton for sportsman-like conduct after colliding with Bova.
