WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Former Purdue star Carsen Edwards is set to begin his professional career Thursday night, when he is expected to be selected in the NBA Draft.
 
The draft will be televised on ESPN, beginning at 7 p.m. ET from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. 
 
PRE-DRAFT NOTES

• Should Edwards be drafted, he will be the 50th player in school history selected in the NBA Draft.
• Edwards will become the eighth player to be drafted under head coach Matt Painter, joining Carl Landry (2007; 31), JaJuan Johnson 2011; 27), E'Twaun Moore (2011; 55), Robbie Hummel (2012; 58), A.J. Hammons (2016; 46), Caleb Swanigan (2017; 26) and Vince Edwards (2018; 52).
• Should Edwards be selected in the first round, he would become the ninth Purdue player ever to be taken in the first round, joining Dave Schellhase (1966), Herm Gilliam (1969), Joe Barry Carroll (1980), Keith Edmonson (1982), Russell Cross (1983), Glenn Robinson (1994) Johnson (2011) and Swanigan (2017).
• Edwards' likely selection will make it four straight years that a Purdue player will have been drafted. Currently, just four schools have longer active streaks entering Thursday's draft (Kentucky – 11; Duke – 10; Kansas – 9; Louisville – 6).
• Since 1980, Purdue is the only Big Ten team and one of eight schools nationally with multiple No. 1 NBA Draft picks (Purdue, LSU, Kentucky, North Carolina, Georgetown, Kansas, UNLV, Duke).

2018-19 NOTES

• Carsen Edwards was one of the most-prolific scorers in not only Purdue history, but Big Ten history.
• Edwards ends his Purdue career third in the NCAA in active scoring among juniors (1,920 points).
• Finished the 2018-19 season ninth in the country in scoring (24.3 ppg).
• Finished the year fourth nationally in 3-pointers made (135), smashing both Purdue and Big Ten records for most 3-pointers in a season.
• Finished his career seventh in school history in scoring (1,920 points).
• His 1,920 points were the most for a Big Ten player in league history through his junior season, meaning he would have likely shattered the all-time scoring record had he stayed for his senior season.
• His 874 points this past season were the fifth most in a season in Big Ten history and the most since the 1993-94 campaign.
• His 24.3 points per game scoring average was the highest in the Big Ten since Michigan State's Steve Smith in 1995.
• His 42 points vs. both Villanova and Virginia were the second most by a Big Ten player in NCAA Tournament history, behind just Glenn Robinson's 44 vs. Kansas in 1994.
• Became the first player to earn Regional Most Outstanding Player accolades from a losing team since Davidson's Steph Curry in 2008.
• Set an NCAA Tournament record with 28 made 3-pointers, doing so in just four games.
• His 139 points in the NCAA Tournament were the most sixth most for a player in four or fewer games in NCAA Tournament history. They were the most for a player since Loyola Marymount's Bo Kimble in 1990.
• Recorded two games of 42-plus points, the first player since Notre Dame's Austin Carr in 1971 to have at least two games of 42 or more points in the NCAA Tournament.
• Became the first player to have 42 or more points in a Regional Final since Loyola Marymount's Bo Kimble in 1990. Is only the fifth player to do so in NCAA Tournament history (Clyde Lovellette, Oscar Robertson, Willie Smith, Bo Kimble).
• His 10 3-pointers against Virginia in the Regional Final were the most for a player in NCAA Tournament history in a Regional Final and the second most in any game in NCAA Tournament history.
• Made a 3-pointer in 37 straight games, the second-longest streak in school history.
• Scored at least 10 points in 45 straight games, the fifth-longest streak in Purdue history.
• Became the fifth player in school history with multiple 650-point seasons.
• Finished season with 874 points, good for third in Purdue history.
• Became just the second player since 1992-93 (Davidson's Stephen Curry twice) to have 850 points, 100 assists, 45 steals and 125 3-pointers in the same season.
• Lastly, led the NCAA Tournament in scoring by 28 points this year (139 points; Texas Tech's Jarrett Culver had 111 points in six games). Among players to play four games, Zion Williamson was second with 104 points.
