WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Purdue men's golf team looks for its first league title in almost 40 years when it travels to the prestigious Philadelphia Cricket Club for the Big Ten Championships starting Friday.
The Boilermakers enter the weekend barely inside the projected magic number for NCAA Regionals and need a strong performance to enhance their tournament resume. Purdue, ranked 61st nationally in the Golfstat rankings, begins the tournament at the No. 7 seed and will be paired with Minnesota and Michigan in Friday's first round.
Purdue has won 12 Big Ten Championships, the third-most of any school, but hasn't hoisted the trophy since 1981. The Boilermakers are playing well right now and hoping to gain the league's automatic qualifier this weekend.
