The Purdue women's basketball team dropped its contest at No. 5/6 South Carolina 85-51 at Colonial Life Arena on Sunday. Karissa McLaughlin, Dominique Oden and Ae'Rianna Harris accounted for 39 points on the afternoon.

COLUMBIA, S.C. –
The Purdue women's basketball team dropped its contest at No. 5/6 South Carolina 85-51 at Colonial Life Arena on Sunday. Karissa McLaughlin, Dominique Oden and Ae'Rianna Harris accounted for 39 points on the afternoon. 

Purdue (7-3) shot 30% for the game. McLaughlin finished with a game-high 18 points on 7-of-14 shooting, including four 3-pointers. Oden tallied 11 points, and Harrris added 10. 

McLaughlin was the lone Boilermaker to get something going in the first half with 11 points. While Purdue shot 30% from the field over the opening 20 minutes, the Gamecocks (10-1) connected on 51% of the shots during that span, including runs of nine and eight points.The Boilermakers trimmed the gap down to 18 points at the break after closing the second quarter on a 7-0 run, but the gap proved too much to overcome.  

Purdue did find some success from the outside, connecting on 6-of-18 3-point attempts.The Boilermakers notched a season high in blocks with 11. Harris recorded a new career high of nine rejections. 

South Carolina featured six players in double figures, while shooting 48.7% from the field. The hosts outrebounded the Boilermakers 56-28 and turned 19 Purdue turnovers into 26 points.

• South Carolina took the series lead 3-2.             
• The Boilermakers are now 18-55 all time against teams ranked in the top five of the AP Top-25.
• With 18 points on the afternoon, McLaughlin pulled within 15 of joining the 1,000-point club for her career.
• Harris' nine blocks set the record for most rejections by a senior at Purdue.

Purdue returns to Mackey Arena for the final two games of the non-conference season. The Boilermakers will face Western Kentucky on Wednesday at noon for Education Day.
