Bell, Hopkins Pick Up AP All-Big Ten Honors

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Fifth-year senior tight end Brycen Hopkins and true freshman wide receiver David Bell garnered Associated Press All-Big Ten recognition Wednesday. Hopkins, the 2019 Kwalick-Clark Big Ten Tight End of the Year, was named first-team All-Big Ten by the AP, while Bell, the Thompson-Randle El Big Ten Freshman of the Year, was named the AP Big Ten Newcomer of the Year and a second-team AP All-Big Ten selection.

Hopkins, the 2019 Kwalick-Clark Big Ten Tight End of the Year, was named first-team All-Big Ten by the AP, while Bell, the Thompson-Randle El Big Ten Freshman of the Year, was named the AP Big Ten Newcomer of the Year and a second-team AP All-Big Ten selection. Bell was the only freshman to earn a spot on either team.
 
Hopkins finished his final collegiate season with 61 receptions for 830 yards and seven touchdowns. In his final two games as a Boilermaker, Hopkins had 16 receptions for 269 yards and four touchdowns. His reception and yardage totals for the season  were the most by a Purdue tight end since Dustin Keller finished with 68 catches for 881 yards in 2007.
 
Bell led the conference with 86 receptions in the regular season in 2019. He finished the season with 1,035 receiving yards and seven touchdowns. Bell had six 100-yard receiving games (tied for second in school history) and finished the season with three straight 100-yard games (tied for second in school history). His reception total tied for eighth in school history, while his receiving yardage total ranks 12th.
