WEST LAFAYETTE, IND. The men's and women's cross country program is set to run in the Great Lakes Regional, scheduled for Friday at the Thomas Zimmer Championship Cross Country Course in Madison, Wisconsin.

The women are scheduled to run the 6K at 12:30 p.m. ET followed by the men's 10k at 1:30 p.m. ET.

The Boilermakers are coming fresh off of the Big Ten Championships where the No. 17 nationally-ranked Purdue men tallied 82 points – the lowest team score at the championships since 1985. The Boilermakers took home a fourth-place team finish led by three All-Big Ten selections in First Team All-Big Ten senior Jaret Carpenter, who finished fifth overall and Second Team All-Big Ten junior Curt Eckstein and Brody Smith after they finished eighth and 11th overall, respectively.

Additionally, the Boilermakers' five scoring runners all placed in the top 35 while being the only team to tally three runners in the top-11.

Including Purdue, there are five nationally ranked men's programs competing in the Great Lakes Regional including No. 9 Wisconsin, No. 13 Indiana, No. 16 Michigan, No. 17 Purdue and No. 19 Notre Dame. Heading into the meet, the men check in at No. 4 in the region.

For the women's race, the Boilermakers will be competing against seven nationally-ranked programs including No. 6 Michigan State, No. 7 Wisconsin, No. 11 Michigan, No. 16 Notre Dame, No. 20 Ohio State, No. 24 Butler and No. 26 Minnesota ranking 1-5 in the region, respectively.

Freshman Meagan Hathaway produced the best Boilermaker time of 21:13.3 for the women at the Big Ten Championships, placing 34th, followed by Megan Slamkowski's 55th-place 21:28.1 effort.

The Boilermaker men are looking for their first back-to-back NCAA appearance since the 1985 and 1986 seasons and their 14th overall bid. Meanwhile, Carpenter looks to defend his Great Lakes Region Men's Runner of the Year status and first-place finish in the race. The women's team has its sights on becoming the first Purdue women's team to advance to the championships.

To receive an automatic bid to the NCAA Championships, the men and women must finish first or second as a team in their respective race. The top four individual finishers from a non-automatic qualifying team will receive bids. Meanwhile, at-large participants – both team and individuals – will be announced Saturday, Nov. 16 by the NCAA selection committee.
