Boilermakers Head to Chattanooga for Thursday Tilt

After opening the season at home with a win, the Purdue women's basketball team will hit the road for the first time in 2019-20 to face Chattanooga on Thursday. The Boilermakers are set for their first matchup with the Mocs in history.

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. After opening the season at home with a win, the Purdue women's basketball team will hit the road for the first time in 2019-20 to face Chattanooga on Thursday. The Boilermakers are set for their first matchup with the Mocs in history.

The Boilermakers are looking to improve to 2-0 for the 27th in program history, after opening up the campaign last Sunday with a 68-55 win over Milwaukee at Mackey Arena. Dominique Oden connected on four 3-pointers to lead Purdue with 16 points.

Karissa McLaughlin knocked down both of her outside attempts, as the Boilermakers opened the campaign with nine 3-pointers. Ae'Rianna Harris opened her campaign for a third straight Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year Award by blocking three shots last Sunday.

Freshman Roxane Makolo found ways to contribute in her debut, despite just one point on the score sheet. The Quebec native dished out five assists and hauled down five rebounds in 20 minutes of work. Kayana Traylor also chipped in five assists to help the Boilermakers provide helper on 18-of-23 made baskets.

The Mocs enter the midweek clash with a record of 1-2. Chattanooga went on the road to Liberty on Monday night to earn a 71-54 win. Despite back-to-back losses to start the year, the Mocs have had a player reach 20 points in each of their first three games. Forward Abbey Cornelius is sixth in the Southern Conference with 17.1 points per game.

NOTES
• Purdue is 144-55 in inaugural matchups.
• Chattanooga is the 200th different opponent Purdue has played in its history.
• Purdue has faced a Southern Conference opponent just once before, an 84-51 win over Furman on Nov. 28, 1997.
• Oden is set to become the 15th player in program history to start in 100 games with her next outing.
• Harris has just a narrow two-block lead over Merrimack's Denia Davis-Sweat for the NCAA active shot block lead. The senior has a program record 287 rejections in her career.
• Oden moved into seventh place in Purdue history with 176 3-pointers, passing Ukari Figgs. Karissa McLaughlin's 165 3-pointers is three triples shy of taking over ninth place from KK Houser.
Rickie Woltman and Bria Harmon made their Purdue debuts last Sunday and will enter Thursday's game looking for their first career points.
  Despite never facing the Mocs before, the Boilermakers played two games at Chattanooga in 2009 for the first two rounds of the NCAA Tournament, in which the Boilermakers advanced to the Elite Eight. 
• Purdue leads the nation in 3-point field goal percentage at 60%.
