WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Head coach Dan Ross has announced Purdue men's swimming & diving has elected four captains for its new season, which opens with a pair of home meets next weekend.
The program's nomination process resulted in Nick McDowell, Trent Pellini and Will Schrensky being selected to represent the swimmers. The trio joins diving captain Greg Duncan as the Boilermakers' elected captains for the 2019-20 campaign.
McDowell and Schrensky are two of Purdue's five active seniors this year. Duncan and Pellini are juniors. As NCAA Championships qualifiers last season, Duncan and Pellini both earned honorable mention All-America accolades in multiple events.
Pellini is the program record holder in the 100 breaststroke. He also helped the 200 and 400 medley relay teams eclipse records last season. Duncan (springboard diving), McDowell (distance freestyle) and Schrensky (breaststroke) rank among Purdue's all-time leaders in multiple individual events as well.
Ross also announced that seniors Kaleb Gould, Luke Ingram and Kristian Komlenic will join junior Ryan Lawrence as vice captains.
Batuhan Hakan and Brandon Loschiavo have elected to exercise Olympic Practice Waivers for the 2019-20 college season. The Olympic Practice Waiver serves as the equivalent of a redshirt season and pauses a student-athlete's eligibility clock for a year. Hakan is the program record holder in the 500 free. Loschiavo has won the last two Big Ten diving titles on the 10-meter platform.
