WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Maddy Duncan was named the Big Ten Sportsmanship Award recipient, announced by the conference office Thursday.
Duncan, a two-time team captain, was chosen to lead the Boilermakers through the 2018 and 2019 seasons. Additionally, Duncan is set to enter postseason play with 1,719 career minutes on the field over the span of 49 games.
The Danville, California, native has contributed to victories this season over Indiana, then-ranked No. 19 Iowa, Iowa State, DePaul and Toledo to help propel Purdue to its second Big Ten Tournament bid in the last three years.
The senior is a two-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree and will graduate with a degree in Management and a minor in Human Resource Management.
The honor represents individuals who have distinguished themselves through sportsmanship and ethical behavior. These students must also be in good academic standing and have demonstrated good citizenship outside of the sports-competition setting.
Duncan was preceded by Dannah Williams, who earned the league honor for Purdue in 2018.
