WILDCAT INVITATIONAL DRAWS | ITA All-America Draws
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The Purdue women's tennis team will hit the road this weekend for a pair of tournaments in different states. Ena Babic and Csilla Fodor will go up against some of the top players in the country at the ITA All-American Championships in Tulsa, Okla., while the remainder of the roster will journey to Northwestern for the Wildcat Invitational.
A quartet of Boilermakers play up in Evanston, Ill. Nathalia Wolf Gasparin will face Daria Afanasyeva from James Madison in the A flight. Alex Sabe will start her weekend against Lejla Colic from UIC in flight B. In the D draw, Zala Dovnik will square off with Therese Kavtaradze from Eastern Illinois. Seira Shimizu will round out singles action for the Boilermakers in the E flight against Lesley Foe of Marquette.
Purdue entered a pair of teams in the A flight for doubles play. Sabe and Dovnik will continue their tandem against Columbia's Julia Haynes and Michelle Xu. Wolf Gasparin and Shimizu will meet Christine Gouws and Rachel Papavasilopoulos in the opening round.
For Babic and Fodor, this weekend will mark the second time the duo will play separately from the team. The tandem received bids for the singles and doubles draws at ITA All-Americas. Fodor will open the event in the pre-qualifying flight Oct. 5-6. Babic will have a bye through to the qualifying stages Oct 7-8. The two will look to progress to the main draw Oct. 9-13. The duo earned a spot in the qualifying flight of the doubles tournament.
