2019-20 Schedule
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Purdue men's golf head coach Rob Bradley has announced the 2019-20 schedule, featuring 11 regular-season events spanning from Arizona to Puerto Rico.
The Boilermakers will compete in nine different states or territories, traveling 14,746 round-trip miles during the regular season.
Purdue opens the season at the inaugural Island Resort Intercollegiate on Michigan's Upper Peninsula in Harris, Michigan. Held at Sage Run at Island Resort and Casino, the tournament features teams such as North Florida, UCF, Liberty and Michigan State – all squads that advanced to last year's NCAA competition.
The following week, Purdue travels to the Independence, Minnesota, for the Gopher Invitational. Typically one of the stronger fields in the country, 11 of the 14 teams in the event competed in last season's NCAA Championship, highlighted by Oklahoma and Texas A&M, who both reached the match play quarterfinals. Other entrants include Arkansas, Baylor, Kent State, Marquette, North Carolina State and West Virginia.
For the sixth time in the last seven seasons, Purdue will compete in the Windon Memorial Classic in Lake Forest, Illinois, at Conway Farms Golf Club, held Sept. 16 and 17. Conway Farms hosted the PGA Tour's BMW Championship in 2013, 2015 and 2017. Purdue won the event in 2015 with a school-record, 54-hole score of 830.
In early October, the Boilermakers return to the site of the 2017 U.S. Open for the Marquette Intercollegiate. Held at Erin Hills in Hartford, Wis., it marks the second of three consecutive courses that Purdue will play that has hosted major PGA Tour and USGA events.
Purdue closes out the fall season the following week with the Crooked Stick Invitational in Carmel, Indiana. Purdue has had success at Crooked Stick, the site of the 1991 PGA Championship and the 2012 and 2016 BMW Championships, finishing fourth in 2017 and second in 2015.
The Boilermakers will open the spring season at the Big Ten Match Play Championship in Palm Coast, Florida, on Feb. 7 and 8. The Boilermakers won the event in 2018 and own a 14-4-4 record in the competition under Bradley.
For the 28th straight season, Purdue will host the Puerto Rico Classic in Rio Grande, Puerto Rico, on Feb. 16 to 18. Consistently one of the top fields in collegiate golf, Purdue has posted consecutive top-five finishes in the event for the first time in school history.
After a few weeks off, Purdue heads to Arizona for the Desert Mountain Intercollegiate in Scottsdale on March 7 and 8. It marks Purdue's fifth appearance in the tournament, finishing as high as tied for second twice.
In late March, Purdue will compete in the John Hayt Invitational in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, for the third straight year, before returning home to host the 17th annual Boilermaker Invitational on April 11 and 12. In each of the last two seasons, the Boilermakers' third round has been canceled due to weather.
Purdue closes out the regular season at the Robert Kepler Intercollegiate in Columbus, Ohio, on April 25 and 26. The Boilermakers won the event in 2018 with a record-breaking performance, led by Jarle Volden's individual title.
The Big Ten Championships will be held at Rich Harvest Farms in Sugar Grove, Illinois, beginning on May 1. The Boilermakers finished second last year, just five shots behind league champion Illinois.
NCAA Regional Championships will be held May 18 to 20 at six sites nationally, hosted by Auburn, University of San Diego, LSU, Clemson, Oklahoma and Michigan State.
The NCAA National Championships will be at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Arizona, on May 29 to June 3.
