WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Purdue alum Adam Schenk has had a strong season on the PGA Tour this year, already securing his tour card for next season. He looks to end the season on a high note beginning this week at The Northern Trust at Liberty National Golf Club in Jersey City, New Jersey.
Entering this week's event, Schenk ranks 84th on the Fed Ex Cup standings, narrowly missing the top-70 cut by a mere 78 points for the BMW Championship next week. A strong finish this week could qualify Schenk for the BMW Championship held at Medinah Country Club in Medinah, Illinois.
Schenk played in 30 events this past season, tied for the most on the PGA Tour this season while ranking 89th on the official money list with $1,182,233, making 19 cuts.
He owns three top-10 and eight top-25 placings this year, including T-6th at the John Deere Classic in July. Schenk has performed well around the greens, ranking 31st on the tour in greens in regulation percentage (69.10 percent) and 46th in birdies per round (3.97).
Schenk is one of Purdue's all-time greats, graduating from Purdue in 2014 with a degree in management. He led Purdue to the 2014 NCAA National Championships after earning second-team All-Big Ten as a senior and first-team honors as a junior in 2013. He was a three-time PING All-Midwest Region selection, ranking fourth on the Purdue career strokes average list (73.35). He is third all-time in top-10 finishes (19 in 48 events played), including seven top-10 showings as a junior, the second most all-time. Schenk holds the school record for consecutive rounds of even or under par at 13 during his senior campaign.
The Northern Trust will air on the Golf Channel in all four rounds (Thursday and Friday, 2-6 p.m.; Saturday, 1 – 2:45 p.m.; Sunday, Noon to 1:45 p.m.) and CBS on Saturday (3 – 6 p.m.) and Sunday (2 – 6 p.m.).
