INDIANAPOLIS
– Five Boilermakers qualified for weekend finals at the USA Diving Senior National Championships, three putting themselves in contention to earn berths at the FINA World Championships.

Brandon Loschiavo, Steele Johnson and Ben Bramley gave Purdue three of the 12 finalists for Sunday's 10-meter event at noon ET. Just 3.30 points separates Loschiavo and Johnson in the cumulative scoring, which determines the USA's bids to the World Championships (July 12-28 in Gwangju, South Korea).

Alumnus David Boudia is in third place in the 3-meter cumulative scoring going into Saturday's final, which will be televised live on NBCSN at 12:30 p.m. The three-time Olympian and three-time 10-meter silver medalist at the World Championships is only 6.3 points behind the USA's second berth at the premier international event of the year.

Divers with the top individual list scores in the final win USA Diving national championships this weekend, but the cumulative three-list scores determine which divers will represent Team USA in South Korea this summer. The top two finishers in the individual events qualify.

Purdue's Emily Bretscher (10th in the semi) and Bramley (6th in the semi, 4th overall) also earned spots in the weekend finals on 3-meter and 10-meter, respectively. Bretscher improved on her prelim score by 27 points to climb from 14th in the prelim to 10th in the semi. Only the top 12 qualified for the final. She posted scores of 60.45 and 57 in the final two rounds of the semi to clinch her spot in the final, which is set for Sunday at 1:40 p.m.

Earlier this week, Maggie Merriman (13th in semi) and Bretscher (9th in prelim) both finished just one place shy of qualifying for finals on 10-meter and 1-meter, respectively.

Bramley and Johnson already qualified for the World Championships by posting the top cumulative score in 10-meter synchro Monday.
