BOILERMAKERS COMPETING
Men: Ben Bramley, Greg Duncan, Brandon Loschiavo
Women: Emily Bretscher, Maggie Merriman
Alumni: David Boudia, Steele Johnson

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – With the nation's best divers converging on Indianapolis, six Boilermakers are slated to compete in a combined six events at the USA Diving Senior National Championships.

The week-long championship showcase opens Sunday and continues through May 26 at the IU Natatorium on the campus of IUPUI. Next year, the Men's NCAA Championships (March 25-28) and U.S. Olympic Team Trials (June 13-21) will also be held in Indianapolis. It's the same natatorium where David Boudia and Steele Johnson qualified for the 2016 Olympic Games.

Saturday's finals -- the men's 3-meter (NBCSN at 12:30 p.m.) and women's 10-meter (NBC at 2 p.m.) events -- will be televised live by the NBC family of networks.

The Senior National Championships is part of the 2019 Team USA Summer Champions Series and will serve as the selection event for divers to qualify for the FINA World Championships (July 12-28 in Gwangju, South Korea) and the Pan American Games (July 26-Aug. 11 in Lima, Peru).

Johnson is set to return to competition from the foot injury that has sidelined him since September. His last competition was the 2018 FINA Diving World Cup, which was held in June in Wuhan, China. Brandon Loschiavo and Johnson represented Team USA in 10-meter synchro at the international event after repeating as the national champions at the 2018 USA Diving Senior Nationals in Dallas.

This year, Johnson will team with Ben Bramley in 10-meter synchro for the first time. Loschiavo is slated to compete in synchro with both David Dinsmore and Jordan Windle. That trio will account for three different synchro teams as they each partner together. All five men will compete individually on the tower as well.

Boudia also returns to competition on 3-meter after winning the event at the USA Diving Winter Trials in December. At the time, it marked Boudia's return to competition for the first time since winning a pair of medals at the 2016 Olympics.

Johnson announced he was turning pro in March and graduated with his bachelor's degree in interdisciplinary film and video studies earlier this month.

Greg Duncan, Emily Bretscher, Maggie Merriman, Bramley and Loschiavo are all slated to return to Purdue's active roster in the fall for the 2019-20 season. They all represented the Boilermakers at the NCAA Championships this spring.
