WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – With the Big Ten Tournament next week, the Purdue softball team hits the road to wrap up the regular season this weekend at Illinois. The series gets underway Friday at 6 p.m. ET and continues Saturday at 2 p.m. First pitch of the finale is set for 1 p.m. on Sunday. All of the games will be streamed on BTN2Go.

With just three games remaining in the regular season, the Boilermakers look to snap a six-game losing streak following back-to-back series losses to Northwestern and Wisconsin. Standing at 30-23 overall, Purdue is still looking to surpass the 30-win mark for the first time since 2015. In Big Ten play, the Boilermakers are 6-14 and are tied for ninth in league standings with Illinois.
Purdue comes into the weekend batting .282 as a team with four Boilermakers hitting above .300. Senior Jenny Behan continues to lead the way batting .361 overall on 12 home runs, 57 hits, and 38 RBIs.
In the circle, senior Maddie Damon has become a reliable force for the Boilermakers. Most recently, she picked up 16 strike outs over three games against Wisconsin, including a game-best six strikeouts in 6.2 innings in the series finale.
SCOUTING ILLINOIS
The Illini come into the series looking to extend their momentum from their 7-0 five-inning victory over DePaul earlier this week. In the victory, Illinois was paced by a 2-for-2 performance with two RBI and a run from redshirt-senior Carly Thomas.
Overall, Illinois is led by sophomore catcher, Bella Loya, who is batting .407 overall on 12 home runs, 61 hits, and 46 RBIs. Illinois is batting .313 as a team with five players hitting above the .300 mark.
Freshman RHP Sydney Sickels (17-13) is strong from the circle with a 3.59 ERA and 111 strike outs. Sickels made two appearances in their most recent series against Ohio State. The Boilermakers can expect to see her on the mound this weekend.
