THE TALKING POINTS
1) Purdue is looking to become the third Big Ten program, and the first in almost 25 years, to win 14 league games in three straight years. The only other teams to do so are Purdue (1994-96) and Indiana (1991-93).
2) Purdue has won at least 13 Big Ten games in six of Matt Painter's 14 years at Purdue, including three straight.
3) Matt Painter now owns 315 wins at Purdue, ranking 11th on the Big Ten's all-time wins list and needing just one win to move into the top 10, owning a 315-156 record at Purdue. His 340 career wins are the second most for an active coach in his 15th year or fewer (Arizona's Sean Miller).
4) Purdue's seniors (Ryan Cline and Grady Eifert) now own a 103-31 (.769) career record, the fourth-most wins for a senior class in school history. A win moves the class to second place all-time. The .769 winning percentage is third-best percentage in school history (1996 - .778; 1988 - .774).
5) Purdue has won 37 of its last 38 home games, dating to Jan. 2017, the loss coming on a last second tip-in to Ohio State last year. Twenty-nine of the 37 wins have come by at least 10 points. Purdue owns the best home record in the country over the last four years (61-4; .938). Kansas is 2nd (58-4).
6) Purdue continues to excel on the offensive end, ranking fifth nationally in offensive efficiency. Purdue, Duke and North Carolina are the only teams to rank in the top 10 in offensive efficiency the last two seasons.
7) Purdue is just 28-105 (.267) from 3-point range over the last four games, but three of the contests came on the road (3-1 record). Over the last four home games, Purdue is 34-88 (.386) from 3-point range.
8) Purdue's defense has held opponents to 62.8 points per game and 39.2 percent shooting over the last six outings.
9) Carsen Edwards ranks 10th nationally in scoring (23.4 PPG). Since the 1992-93 season, just four other Big Ten players (Purdue's Glenn Robinson 2x, Michigan State's Shawn Respert 2x, Indiana's Alan Henderson, Minnesota's Quincy Lewis) have averaged at least 23.0 points per game.
10) Ryan Cline has sparked Purdue's recent surge, making 44 of 94 (.468) of his 3-pointers since the calendar flipped to 2019.

THE SERIES
• One of the most tightly-contested rivalries in the Big Ten, Purdue leads the series with Illinois by a 101-87 margin, including a 17-7 mark under head coach Matt Painter
• Purdue has won three games in a row in the series by a combined 63 points, including last year's 93-86 victory in Champaign in which then-sophomore Carsen Edwards scored 40 points. Purdue has scored at least 89 points in each of the last three meetings.
• Purdue has won six games in a row in Mackey Arena against the Illini, but has played Illinois just twice at home in the last six calendar years.
• Throughout the 188 games, there is just a 53-point difference in the total amount of points scored by the two teams (10,873 to 10,820).
