MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. — No. 22 Purdue split weights with Central Michigan, but an upset pin at 157 created too much distance for the Boilermakers to overcome, dropping their regular season finale to CMU 20-15 on Sunday.

The Chippewas opened with bonus points at 125 pounds, a 16-1 technical fall by No. 18 Drew Hildebrandt against Purdue's Marshall Craig V. Back-to-back decisions from Boilermakers Ben Thornton and Nate Limmex gave Purdue its first and only lead in the dual at 6-5.

Thornton, who wrestled in the final dual of his career, defeated Deven Perez 9-3. The 15th-ranked 133-pounder went for 2-and-2 in the opening frame and registered a reversal in the second and third periods. The win brought the redshirt senior's record to 18-7.

Nate Limmex followed with a 12-5 showing against Drew Marten 141 pounds. The redshirt junior had five strong takedowns in the match, but finished just short of valuable bonus points. Limmex, a returning NCAA qualifier takes a 17-12 record into the postseason.

Central Michigan captured the next two weights. Logan Parks gave the Chippewas a 14-6 advantage at the dual's midway point with an upset pin of Purdue's No. 15 Griffin Parriott. The two were tied 5-5 with less than a minute remaining in the match when Parks found the fall at 6:11.

Cole Wysocki and No. 10 Dylan Lydy brought the Boilermakers within two dual points with consecutive decisions at 165 and 174, respectively. Wysocki struck off the whistle with a quick six-point move on CMU's Bret Fedewa. Two reversals for Fedewa made it a 6-4 advantage for Wysocki going into the third period. A takedown off a neutral start and a rideout sealed the victory for Wysocki 8-4.

Lydy pushed his record to 23-6 thanks to a 7-3 win over Collin Lieber. Lydy hit a trio of takedowns en route to winning his sixth straight.

Max Lyon pursued Central Michigan's Jordan Atienza heavily, but it was Atienza who broke through for two takedowns in the third period to win the 184-pound battle 5-4. Purdue's 11th-ranked Christian Brunner edged Landon Pelham 4-3, making it a 17-15 edge for the Chippewas with one bout to go.

In the heavyweight contest, it was No. 12 Matt Stencel clinching the dual for CMU with a 4-1 decision over Jacob Aven. The loss brought the Boilermakers' final dual record to 7-10.

Purdue's focus now shifts to March. On Thursday, the NCAA is scheduled to release conference weight allocations for the NCAA Championships. Along with the allocations, updated coaches' rankings and RPI will be released.

All three components are vital heading into the Big Ten Championships. The two-day tournament will take place March 9 and 10 in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
