RIO GRANDE, P.R. – The Purdue men's golf team continued its momentum from a strong back nine on Sunday into Monday's second round to sit in a sixth-place tie after 36 holes at the Puerto Rico Classic at the Rio Mar Resort's River Course.

The Boilermakers tallied a 2-under par 286 to finish 36 holes in 3-over par 579 (293-286) to sit in a sixth-place tie with No. 31-ranked Marquette after Monday's second round. The score was the fourth-best team round of the day and moved Purdue in position for a top-five finish in Tuesday's final round.

No. 4 Georgia Tech (-11) leads No. 28 North Carolina State (-10) by one shot and is followed by No. 21 Georgia (-8), No. 13 Oklahoma (-4) and No. 12 Clemson (+1). The Boilermakers are looking for their second straight top-five finish in the event, something they have never accomplished in the event's history.

Leading the charge for Purdue is sophomore Cole Bradley, who shares the tournament lead at 5-under par 139 after rounds of 70-69. Tied with Georgia Tech's Noah Norton (No. 42), NC State's Benjamin Shipp (No. 62) and Maryland's Tim Colanta, Bradley is one of nine players to post under-par rounds in each of the first two rounds. Bradley shot a 32 on the back nine (Purdue's first nine of the day) and held the lead for most of the round before a bogey on the final hole dropped him into a first-place tie.

Nonetheless, Bradley has now been even-par or better in 13 of 20 rounds this year and is looking for his third top-10 finish in his last four events dating to the fall.

Jarle Volden rebounded from a first-round struggle to shoot a 2-under par 70 to place in 37th after 36 holes and 3-over par 147 (77-70). Volden rose 25 places in the placing after starting red hot on his round. He was 3-under par through six holes, before playing the final 12 holes in 1-over par.

Timmy Hildebrand is tied for 21st at 1-over par 145 (70-75), while Andrew Lewis is tied for 45th (76-73=149) and Joe Weiler is tied for 50th (77-74=151).

Purdue will be paired with No. 12-ranked Clemson and No. 13-ranked Oklahoma in Tuesday's final round.
