TRIPLE DUAL MEET INFORMATION
Purdue Men at Women vs. Minnesota and Northwestern
Friday, Feb. 1 at 6 p.m. ET and Saturday, Feb. 2 at 1 p.m. ET
Norris Aquatics Center / Evanston, Illinois
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Purdue swimming & diving's dual meet season draws to a close this weekend with the annual two-day matchup against Minnesota and Northwestern, the Big Ten Triple Duals.
Northwestern's Norris Aquatics Center in Evanston is the site this season, marking the second time NU has hosted the meet since replacing Wisconsin in the field during the 2014-15 school year. Purdue is line to host the Big Ten Triple Duals again next season.
Nineteen events will be contested over the two days of competition, with action set for 6 p.m. ET on Friday and 1 p.m. ET on Saturday. Purdue was assigned lanes 2 and 5. There will be two heats of all individual swimming events.
The No. 24 Purdue men, No. 18 Minnesota women and No. 23 Northwestern women are all nationally ranked in the latest top-25 poll released by the College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America.
The Purdue men and women are both 2-3 in dual meet action this season, splitting their November triple dual vs. Wisconsin (won) and Tennessee (lost). They've also beaten Michigan State and lost to Indiana and Notre Dame. MSU was the only non-ranked opponent at the time of the dual.
Even without their divers in attendance, the Purdue men outscored Minnesota en route to winning the Hawkeye Invitational in November. This weekend, the Boilermakers will be looking for their first dual meet victory vs. Minnesota since the 2011 Big Ten Triple Duals.
Nine Boilermakers set to compete this weekend rank as the best in an event this season among the three universities participating in the Big Ten Triple Duals. That group includes: Tim Barth (200 back), Emily Bretscher (3-meter diving), Erik Juliusson (200 IM), Taite Kitchel (200 fly), Kiki Komlenic (100 back), Brandon Loschiavo (platform diving), Nick McDowell (500 and 1,000 free), Brett Riley (400 IM) and Joe Young (100 fly).
Additionally, Jinq En Phee and Minnesota's Lindsey Kozelsky are both among the 17 women nationally, including seven from the Big Ten, to break one minute in the 100 breaststroke this season.
Platform diving has been featured at the Big Ten Triple Duals in recent years, but won't be this weekend because NU's aquatic center does not feature a 10-meter platform. However, that hasn't stopped the Wildcats' Olivia Rosendahl from winning the NCAA title in the event each of the last two years.
McDowell swept the 500 and 1,000 free at the Big Ten Triple Duals last season in Minneapolis. Other Purdue winners included: Emily Meaney (platform diving), Juliusson (200 IM), Kitchel (200 IM) and Young (100 back). The Boilermakers had three of the top five finishers in the women's 100 free, 200 free, 100 back, 200 fly, 200 IM and 400 IM. On the men's side, Purdue did likewise in the 100 back, 200 back, 100 breast and 400 IM.
As sophomores in 2017, Alex Clarke (200 IM) and Young (200 back) won events the last time Purdue hosted the meet.

?? This week was historically frigid. @Morgan_Meixner & @FlexinLex_ agree with their classmates, January is a tough month when the pool is warm & everything outside is frozen. #BoilerUp pic.twitter.com/ltagYJkpqy
