Bretscher, Duncan Sweep B1G Diver of the Week Awards

Victorious on 1-meter with all-time top 10 scores at MSU, Emily Bretscher and Greg Duncan have been recognized as the Big Ten Divers of the Week.

ROSEMONT, Ill. – Victorious on 1-meter with all-time top 10 scores in the dual meet sweep at Michigan State, Purdue's Emily Bretscher and Greg Duncan have been recognized as the Big Ten Divers of the Week.

Bretscher was recognized by the conference office for the second time this season. She becomes Purdue's first female to win Diver of the Week twice in the same season since Mary Beth Dunnichay in 2014-15.

Duncan was a conference champion on both springboards at the ACC Championships as a freshman at North Carolina last season, but this is his first weekly honor from either league.

December 2015 marked the last time the Boilermakers swept the Big Ten men's and women's Diver of the Week honors. Joe Cifelli and Dunnichay teamed up to accomplish the feat.

Bretscher's winning score of 329.32 on 1-meter in East Lansing is tops in the Big Ten this season and moved her into sixth place in program history. She opted not to compete on 3-meter, an event won by teammate Emily Meaney in her season debut.

Duncan moved into seventh place in program history with a winning score of 380.02 on 1-meter. It ranks as the fifth-best mark in the Big Ten this season.

Bretscher was also named Big Ten Diver of the Week on Nov. 7 after she swept the springboard events in the triple dual with Tennessee and Wisconsin. Duncan made his team debut at the same meet. They both medaled on 3-meter two weeks later at the Texas Hall of Fame Diving Invitational. Bretscher capped the fall with another bronze on 3-meter at the USA Diving Winter Trials.

Both sophomores ranks among Purdue's all-time top 15 in both springboard events.

The Boilermakers are back in action Saturday, Jan. 26 for their Senior Day meet vs. rival Indiana. Action begins at 11 a.m. ET at the Morgan J. Burke Aquatic Center.
