WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Head coach Boo De Oliveira and the Purdue softball team will take on an exciting 2019 slate that will pit the Boilermakers against some of the best competition the NCAA has to offer. In all, Purdue will face nine NCAA Regional teams in 16 games, as well as host 15 contests at Bittinger Stadium.
"We've got a great 2019 schedule packed with competitive teams," Oliveira said. "I can't wait to see all the hard work we put in this fall be tested. This team is special. Not only are we talented, but we are a family. We truly believe in each other and our potential is unlimited. We can go as far as we believe we can."
Purdue opens up the season with a 30-game road swing, beginning with a trip to the College of Charleston's Cougar Classic. The Boilermakers will hit-off the season against Pittsburgh and the host Cougars on Feb. 8, before squaring off with Central Michigan and Virginia Tech the following day. Purdue will then close out the tournament with a single clash against the Hokies on Feb. 10.
The Boilermakers return to the Atlantic Coast the following weekend, heading to Greenville, N.C. for East Carolina's Pirate Clash beginning on Feb. 15. In the two-day tournament, Purdue will face the 2018 NEC Champion Saint Francis and Wagner, twice.
Purdue continues its road swing with a trip to the Sunshine State for a quartet of tournaments beginning with the Madeira Beach Tournament on Feb. 22. The Boilermakers will square off with reigning Conference USA champion Middle Tennessee, before taking on UNF, 100-time American East Conference Champion Albany and South Dakota.
From there, De Oliveria's Boilermakers will then make the short trek to Orlando for the Diamond 9 Citrus Classic II. Over three days, Purdue will matchup against Bradley, South Alabama and Savannah State for a total of five games.
Purdue continues its stay in Florida with the FAU/FIU Parent Tournament on March 8-10, where the Boilermakers take on Illinois State, FIU, North Dakota, Yale and FAU.
From Boca Raton, the Boilermakers travel to Tampa for the USF- Michelle Smith Pediatric Cancer Spring Invitational. Purdue kicks off the action on Thursday, March 14 with a single game at 2018 AAC Champion USF. Following bouts with FAMU and Lafayette on Friday, the Boilermakers will close out its stay in the Sunshine State with games against nine-time Summit League Champion NDSU and Big East foe Seton Hall.
After going more than month without a home appearance, the Boilermakers will play four-straight contests at Bittinger Stadium, beginning with their Big Ten opening series against Iowa, March 22-24.
Big Ten action will also bring Penn State, Nebraska and Wisconsin to Bittinger Stadium, while the Boilermakers visit Minnesota, Northwestern and Illinois.
