WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Purdue women's basketball team hosts the University of Albany on Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. ET, while also welcoming elementary school students from Greater Lafayette to Mackey Arena. Over 1,600 local students have tickets for the first-ever meeting between the Boilermakers and Great Danes, making Albany the 199th opponent in Purdue women's basketball history.

The Boilermakers fell in double overtime to No. 25 South Carolina 82-73, succumbing to foul trouble in the extra sessions and losing their first home game of the season. The Boilermakers rallied from a 10-point second half deficit but couldn't hold off the Gamecocks down the stretch. Oden and McLaughlin teamed for 44 points as Oden had her first career double-double with 19 points and 10 boards.

The Boilermakers are 1-of-6 teams in the nation to host a crowd of 10,000 or more this season. At 6,606 fans per contest, Purdue currently ranks seventh in the country in average attendance and looks to continue its streak of 23 consecutive seasons in the top-10 of the NCAA.

After going for 25 and 19 points, respectively in Sunday's game vs. South Carolina, McLaughlin and Oden are now tied for seventh in the Big Ten in scoring. The Boilermakers are the only team in the conference with two individuals in the top-10 on the Big Ten scoring list, dropping in 15.5 points per game apiece.
THIRD TIME'S A CHARM
Purdue has done the bulk of its damage in the third quarter this season, averaging 20.5 points per game and outscoring opponents by an average of 5.5 points per game. The Boilermakers' high-quarter total of 31 points game in the third quarter against Loyola Chicago, in addition to Sunday's 11-0 run against the Gamecocks.

The Great Danes visit Mackey Arena for the first time ever Wednesday, snapping a seven-game losing skid Saturday with a 67-60 win at St. Francis Brooklyn. Albany won six straight America East Tournament titles from 2012 to 2017, earning NCAA Tournament bids, and played in the 2018 WNIT after finishing second in the conference during the regular season. First-year head coach Colleen Mullen is in her first year with the Great Danes, after seven seasons as an assistant at Army. Mullen is the third Albany head coach in the last four years after Katie Abrahamson-Henderson took the head coaching position at Central Florida in 2016, and Joanna Bernabei-McNamee was named the head coach at Boston College in 2018 after two seasons with the Great Danes. Sophomore Kyara Frames leads the Great Danes at 12.6 points per game, hitting 26 3's and adding 4.3 rebounds and a team-high 2.8 assists per contest. Senior Amanda Kantzy is Albany's second-leading scorer at 8.7 points per game, and scored a team-high 20 points in Saturday's win over St. Francis Brooklyn.
