Loschiavo Honored for Nation's Best 10-Meter List

An 80-point victory on the tower against the best in the ACC and Big Ten earned Purdue's Brandon Loschiavo Big Ten Diver of the Week honors.

ROSEMONT, Ill.
– An 80-point victory on the tower against the best in the ACC and Big Ten earned Purdue's Brandon Loschiavo Big Ten Diver of the Week honors.

Loschiavo helped the Big Ten win the augural ACC/Big Ten Challenge with his convincing victory on 10-meter. He posted a national season-high score of 508.80, becoming the first diver to surpass 500 points in the event this season. The second-place finish was Miami's Zach Cooper with a list score of 428.40. As the reigning Big Ten champion in the event, Loschiavo remains one of just three Boilermakers in program history surpass the 500-point benchmark.

The junior was recognized by the conference office for the second time in his career. He was also named Big Ten Diver of the Week in November of last season after winning on platform at the Purdue Invitational. His winning score on the tower a year ago was 481.20.

Emily Bretscher and Loschiavo have teamed up to give the Boilermakers consecutive Big Ten Diver of the Week honorees. Bretscher also competed from the tower at the ACC/Big Ten Challenge. The last time Purdue had male and female Big Ten Diver of the Week winners consecutively was November 2014 when Mary Beth Dunnichay (Nov. 4) and Steele Johnson (Nov. 11) were recognized.

Loschiavo posted scores of 80-plus points in five of the six rounds, highlighted by a 90.10 in round 2 and 91.80 in round 5. He had the top scoring dive in all six rounds.

Loschiavo is among the seven Boilermakers competing this week at the Texas Hall of Fame Diving Invitational. He's focusing on the tower again and is among a field of 21 divers signed up for Friday's event, which will be televised on the Longhorn Network. As a finals-only event, it's slated for 2:30 p.m. ET.
