WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Purdue women's basketball team will lace them up at Mackey Arena for the first time in 2018-19 on Sunday, welcoming Harvard University for a 2 p.m. ET contest. The Boilermakers won their season opener at Ball State on Wednesday, starting the year 1-0 for the 36th time, while the Crimson got 2018-19 underway with a 103-58 loss at Notre Dame on Friday.

LOOKING BACK
Purdue opened the season on the road for the third straight season and the fourth time in the last five years, earning an 80-38 victory at Ball State on Wednesday. It was the fifth-largest road victory in program history and the biggest since a 43-point win at Butler in 2006. It is the 36th time Purdue has held an opponent under 40 points, remaining undefeated all-time when doing so, and the 44th time the Boilermakers have beat a team by 40 points or more.
 
FEELS LIKE THE FIRST TIME
Sunday is the first-ever women's basketball game between Purdue and Harvard, making the Crimson the 197th opponent in program history. Purdue is 142-54 all-time in inaugural meetings, including a 73-19 mark in first-time meetings in Mackey Arena.
 
CLEANING THE GLASS
Purdue pulled down 51 rebounds at Ball State, it's most in the last two seasons, and the Boilermakers' 24 offensive boards were their most since securing 25 vs. Northwestern in 2014. Sophomore Tamara Farquhar led the effort, matching a career high with 13 rebounds, while freshman Nyagoa Gony pulled down nine in just 16 minutes and junior Ae'Rianna Harris had eight, including six on the offensive end.
 
THE COUNTDOWN
Junior Dominique Oden posted a team-high 17 points in the season opener, leaving her 115 more to 1,000 for her career as she aims to become the 33rd 1,000-point scorer at Purdue and the 17th to hit the mark as a junior. Oden has now been the Boilermakers' leading scorer in seven of her last eight games, dating to last season.
 
ALL ABOUT HARVARD
Kathy Delaney-Smith is one of the longest tenured head coaches in the country, going into her 37th season with the Crimson and owning 585 career victories. Harvard posted an 18-11 record in 2017-18, finishing third in the Ivy League at 10-4 and earning a bid to the WNIT, where they fell in the opening round to Fordham 65-47. .The Crimson return three starters from the 2017-18 squad, including leading scorer Katie Benzan who averaged 13.5 points and 3.8 assists per game as a sophomore and hit 45 percent from 3-point range. Junior Jeannie Boehm averaged 9.5 points, a team-high 7.6 rebounds and 2.4 blocks per game last season. Harvard was slated to return redshirt senior Taylor Rooks for the 2018-19 season, who was their second-leading scorer at 12.5 points and 7.3 rebounds per game, but the 2018 graduate transferred to Michigan, where she'll face the Boilermakers on Jan. 5. Senior Madeline Raster is an Indiana native, hailing from South Bend where she attended Saint Joseph High School. Raster was a 2015 Indiana All-Star and was named to the ICA All-State "Supreme 15".
