WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The Purdue women's soccer team dropped a 2-1 loss to Minnesota during the Hammer Down Cancer game at Folk Field. Despite Kylie Hase scoring an equalizer during the 52nd minute, the Boilermakers could not respond to the Gophers' eventual game-winner in the 70th minute.
Hase registered her seventh goal of the season on a header. The ball was served off a corner kick from Sarah Clark, marking the fifth time of the 2018 season Clark has served in the ball for Hase's goal.
Despite the loss and a season-low six shots, the Boilermakers produced a season-high .833 shots on goal percentage after putting five of six on-frame.
The Boilermakers forced Minnesota to make four saves while Katie Luce secured one.
For the second time in Big Ten play this season, Purdue held its opponent to single-digit shots. Minnesota collected nine, including three on-frame. Additionally, its two goals are just the second time Purdue has allowed more than one to pass its defense during a single B1G game this season.
Purdue entered halftime down 0-1 after Minnesota's April Bockin scored, unassisted, in the 26th minute. The Gophers were able to respond to Hase's second-half goal with one of their own to seal the Boilermakers' fate.
