The Boilermakers put forward a strong effort, holding Rutgers to just three shots in the first half and eight total shots, which stands six below the team's 2018 average.
The Boilermakers opened the game with the first two shots by either team, placing both on-frame and ended the first half allowing no Rutgers shots on-goal.
In the 63rd minute, the Scarlet Knights broke the silence with the first goal. Rutgers' Amanda Visco netted the goal on a header served into the box on a corner kick.
