• The 2018 season is home to some of the most competitive Big Ten games in program history. Each game has been decided by one point or less, which is the first time since 2012 and just the fourth time in its history the opening four conference games have been so close.

SCOUTING INDIANA (6-3-2, 2-2-0 B1G)
• The Hoosiers are coming off two losses on the road to the Nebraska Cornhuskers and the Iowa Hawkeyes last weekend. Indiana went to extra minutes versus the Huskers, however IU dropped the match with a 4-3 decision last Thursday before heading to Iowa City, where the team lost 3-1.
• Indiana leads the Big Ten in multiple categories, including goals (26), points (83), assists (31) and shots (172). Additionally, the Hoosiers assists are good for fifth in the nation and ninth in assists per game (2.82).
• While 10 different players have found the back of the net this season, Abby Allen leads the team with seven goals and six assists, which ties as a conference-best.

THE LAST MEETING
• Purdue and Indiana last met Sept. 23, 2017 in Bloomington. The Boilermakers battled the Hoosiers to a 1-1 draw for the second year in a row. The Boilermakers have had possession of the Golden Boot since their victory in Bloomington in the 2015 season finale. In the event of a draw, possession of the trophy does not change hands.
Sarah Griffith scored the second-half equalizer in the 64th minute after Indiana's Maya Piper scored on a header 25 minutes into the game.
• Former senior Maddy Williams tied Purdue's all-time record with 90 career points in last year's competition after her assist on Griffith's goal.

WEEK 6 RECAP
• The Boilermakers are coming off its first road trip of the B1G season with a 1-1 draw at Iowa on Thursday and a 1-0 loss at Nebraska on Sunday.
• The shutout against Nebraska was one of the most physical games of the year for the Boilermakers. Four yellow cards were issued, including two to Purdue's Skylurr Patrick and Grace Dunker and a total of 22 fouls were called, which is the second-most this season (most: 25 vs. West Virginia).

• Freshmen led the Boilermakers in shots both games. Aly Mielke tied a season-high four shots against Iowa, while Skylurr Patrick paced the offense with two shots at Nebraska.

VS. B1G OPPONENTS
• Half of Purdue's B1G games this season have gone to overtime, tying the 2012 season as the most in program history through its first four games.
• Purdue has allowed just five goals this season, marking just the second time in the eight years the Boilermakers have allowed five goals or less through its first four games (2017 - three goals allowed).
• All four games have been decided by one point or less.

THE GOLDEN BOOT
After each victory, the winning team takes the trophy home and adds a letter to the chain attached to the gold-dipped soccer shoe. On each letter is engraved the date and score of the match it represents. The first letter on the chain is an "I," marking Indiana's overtime win in the inaugural meeting between the intrastate rivals in 1999. The next five letters are "P"s, denoting Purdue's five subsequent victories. In 2005, the teams battled to a 1-1 draw, keeping the Golden Boot in West Lafayette for a sixth consecutive year. The Boilermakers extended their regular-season unbeaten streak against Indiana to 12 before it was finally snapped in 2012 with a loss in Bloomington. In the process, Indiana gained possession of the Golden Boot for the first time. The Hoosiers retained the trophy in 2013 and 2014 before the Boilermakers regained it with a 2-0 victory in Bloomington in 2015. The teams tied 2-2 in 2016 in West Lafayette and 1-1 in 2017 in Bloomington, keeping the trophy at Purdue.

The concept for the creation of a trophy originally was discussed in 1998. But it was not until 2002, when former Purdue assistant coach Ian Rickerby joined new Indiana head coach Mick Lyon on the Hoosier staff, that the Golden Boot came to fruition. Former Purdue head coach Rob Klatte convinced Lyon that a traveling rivalry trophy would increase the significance of each meeting between the traditional rivals. Both coaching staffs pursued its design, which was completed in the fall of 2002.
