WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Pushing through multiple hard-fought matches Purdue's Silvia Ambrosio and Seira Shimizu racked in four total wins across singles and doubles.
Ambrosio defeated both her opponents today in the second day of the Milwaukee Tennis Classic. In the second round she defeated Lipscomb's Kateryna Popova 6-3, 6-1. The win moved Ambrosio to the third round where she beat Jackie Carr of Arkansas 6-7 (4), 6-2, 6-2.
Shimizu also grabbed a win today as she defeated Stephanie Schrage in the second round 7-6(5), 6-4. The third round proved to be more difficult as Shimizu fell to Oklahoma State's Catherine Gulihur 5-7, 2-6.
Together the two played well as they won their only doubles match of the day against Boltinskaya and Thoms of Florida Atlantic. They won 8-3 placing themselves into the next round.
