WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Purdue women's soccer opens Big Ten Conference play at Folk Field on Thursday. The Boilermakers will open against Michigan State, which is one of two Big Ten Network aired games before taking on Michigan in Purdue's alumnae day on Sunday.

OUT OF THE GATE
• For the eighth time in Purdue history and the first time since 2014, the Boilermakers enter Big Ten play with one loss or less.
• The 2018 squad is off to one of the best starts in program history as its .786 (5-1-1) winning percentage ranks as the sixth best mark entering conference play.
• Purdue stands tied for third place in the Big Ten standings alongside Michigan State.

SCOUTING MICHIGAN STATE (5-1-1, 0-0-0 B1G)
• Michigan State enters the game with each of its five wins coming in shutout fashion. Goalkeeper Reilley Ott earned all five to rank second in the B1G and seventh in the nation. Additionally, Ott comes in at third in the league in both save percentage (.892) and goals-against average (0.551).
• Michigan State ranks 13th in the nation and second in the Big Ten with a 0.714 shutout percentage.
• The Spartans are coming off its first loss of the season to No. 23 Colorado, 3-0, on Sunday.
• Purdue's last matchup against MSU came on Sept. 17, 2017, when the Boilermakers took a decisive 6-2 win in East Lansing. Returners Hannah Melchiorre and Katie Stephens both notched a goal in the victory.

SCOUTING MICHIGAN (4-3-0, 0-0-0 B1G)
• Entering the week, Michigan owns a 0.531 shots on goal percentage and averages 2.43 goals per game.
• Nicki Hernandez leads the team with six goals and four assists for 16 total points. Two of her goals come in game-winning fashion. Meanwhile she also owns an even .500 shots on goal percentage.
• In the last meeting against the Wolverines, Purdue recorded a 1-0 shutout in Ann Arbor with the lone goal produced by Kylie Hase in the 83rd minute.
• Michigan also saw action against Louisville and Western Michigan this season. Against Louisville, the Wolverines dropped the game 3-1, but like Purdue, beat WMU 2-0.

SECOND HALF STRENGTH
• The Boilermakers second half performances this year are among the best in program history. Their second half comebacks led to victories over No. 24 Louisville, Iowa State and a draw against then-ranked No. 25 West Virginia.
• Purdue's ability to make adjustments during halftime has led to 83.3 percent of all goals this year (10 of 12) occurring in the second period.
• Through the first seven games, the Boilermakers took 46 shots in the second half as opposed to 34 in the first 45 minutes of play.
• For two straight games, Purdue has converted on a corner kick during the second half.

ENTERING B1G PLAY...
Kylie Hase enters conference play as the team's leading scorer with five goals and 10 points. Her 10 goals and 0.71 goals per game tie for second-most among the B1G.
Sarah Clark follows Hase with nine points and a team-high five assists, which ties with Nicki Hernandez (Michigan) as the most in the conference. The sophomore owns two goals, which have both come on penalty kicks.
• Purdue is riding a six-game home winning streak dating back to Oct. 25, 2017.
• Despite being outshot 82-93 by opponents, the Boilermakers have the advantage with a +7 scoring differential, 1.71 goals per game (as opposed to the 0.71 for their opponents) and a .415 SOG percentage.

CLIPPING THE CARDINALS' WINGS
• Purdue secured a 2-1 victory over then-ranked No. 24 Louisville at home last Thursday in a come-from-behind thriller.
• The Boilermakers answered the Cardinals' first half goal during the final 45 minutes when freshman Aly Mielke and junior Ena Sabanagic scored.
• Sabanagic netted the game-winner on a shot from 20 yards out (74'), just two minutes after entering the game. Her goal earned recognition on NCAA soccer's top plays of the week, coming in at No. 4.
• Mielke's equilizer (65') was the first goal of her collegiate career and just the fourth goal Louisville had allowed all season.
• Eight freshmen started the game, including GK Marisa Bova, who was making her first collegiate appearance.

THE DYNAMIC DUO
• The Clark-to-Hase combination have accounted for three of Purdue's last six goals, with each of the scores coming during the second half.
