West Lafayette, Ind. – The Purdue women's soccer team held No. 14 Notre Dame to a 0-0 draw in its final exhibition match of the season.

This marks the second straight draw versus a top-15 opponent (2-2 at No. 9 Penn State Oct. 20, 2017). Additionally, it is the first time Purdue has held a top-25 opponent scoreless since No. 23 Rutgers visited West Lafayette Oct. 11, 2015.

The defensive performance by the Boilermakers highlighted the game. The Purdue defense fended off 14 shots and consistently logged the most minutes on the lineup.

Freshman Julia Ware, sophomore Sarah Clark and senior Hannah Mussallem played the entire 90 minutes, while sophomore Grace Dunker and freshman Skylurr Patrick each earned 75 and 76 minutes apiece.

Katie Luce recorded the victory with three saves in the first 77 minutes of action before 6-2 freshman Marisa Bova closed out the game, stopping a one-on-one attempt just minutes after entering. Luce earned an excellent save with five minutes remaining in the first half with a shot on goal by Notre Dame's Natalie Ward.

Patrick had a fantastic game on the back line as well. The defenseman broke up a golden opportunity for Notre Dame in the 56th minute when the Irish dribbled down the center of the box. Patrick earned the tackle, allowing Luce to return the ball to Purdue's possession.

Despite being outshot by the Irish, the Boilermakers recorded a 7-4 corner kick advantage. Although six corners came in the first half, three of Purdue's four shots were earned in the second.

In the 52nd minute, Patrick sent a beautiful cross into the box which Kylie Hase headed, but the ball went over the crossbar.

As the game time winded down, the pressure of both teams increased. Hase notched Purdue's best scoring opportunity in the 89th minute on a formidable header, which forced Notre Dame goalkeeper Brooke Littman to make the save.

Head Coach Drew Roff will enter the 2018 regular season preserving an unbeaten 7-0-1 exhibition record, including just one goal allowed during preseason action.
