WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Jenny Behan and Madison Douglass earn Big Ten postseason accolades for the first time in their career. Behan is lone third baseman to earn All-Big Ten honors as a first team selection while Douglass is one-of-14 recipients of the conference's Sportsmanship Award.
Behan is Purdue's 50th All-Big Ten honoree and is one-of-19 student-athletes named to the first team. With her selection, Purdue has now had first-team recipients in six of the last eight seasons and three in each of the last three seasons. She's also Purdue's first, third baseman selected to the first team since Tori Chiodo earned the award in 2014.
The Mundelein, Illinois, native thrived in her first season playing in the Big Ten after transferring to Purdue from James Madison University during the offseason. She started at third base in all 55 games for the Boilermakers and registered 47 hits in 151 at-bats to hit .311. The junior led the Boilermakers in extra-base hits as well with 10 doubles, two triples and seven home runs, giving her a .543 slugging percentage. She walked 29 times, fueling her .428 on-base percentage. Behan was Purdue's leading run-producer as well, scoring 27 runs and earning 30 RBI.
Behan has found a home with the Boilermakers under head coach Boo De Oliveira and her staff, reuniting with her childhood hitting coach and current Purdue assistant coach Amanda Eberhart. Prior to her breakthrough year with the Boilermakers, she made just 14 starts with the Dukes.
Douglass is Purdue's recipient of the Big Ten Sportsmanship Award. Each year the conference honors a student-athlete from each school that displays exceptional sportsmanship and ethical behavior with good academic standing and has demonstrated outstanding citizenship off the field.
