WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Carsen Edwards and Matt Haarms both posted 3-0 records in Saturday's annual Gold-Black scrimmage held at Mackey Arena.
Edwards was outstanding for the Boilermakers, scoring a scrimmage-high 30 points on 11-of-16 shooting with three assists, three steals and no turnovers. He made 4-of-6 3-point attempts and all four of his free throw tries.
Meanwhile, Haarms, a 7-foot, 3-inch forward from Amsterdam, scored 18 points with eight rebounds on 9-of-10 shooting from the field. Haarms was playing in his first competitive action in almost 16 months after sitting out last year as a redshirt. Haarms was not eligible to play in the World University Games in Taipei in August as he is not a U.S. citizen.
Senior Isaac Haas totaled 22 points on 9-of-12 field goal attempts and Nojel Eastern scored 18 points with five assists and four rebounds. Dakota Mathias contributed 18 points, seven rebounds and six assists while P.J. Thompson netted 17 points. Vincent Edwards scored 15 points with 11 rebounds and four assists.
As a team, Purdue had 36 assists against just 11 turnovers and shot 61-of-114 (.535) from the field. The Boilermakers were 19-of-44 (.432) from long distance and 18-of-23 (.783) from the free throw line.
Purdue's next public action will be next Saturday in a Hurricane Relief charity game against Indiana State, tipping at 3 p.m. ET, in Mackey Arena. Tickets are available for $10 for adults and $5 for Purdue students.
