WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Kylie Hase converted on a pair of corner kick scrambles as part of a clutch multi-goal effort, lifting Purdue women's soccer to a 2-0 victory vs. Northwestern on Sunday at Folk Field.
The Boilermakers (9-2-1, 4-0-1 B1G) took over sole possession of first place in the Big Ten standings while remaining the only unbeaten team in league play. Purdue and Northwestern (6-5-2, 3-2-1 B1G) entered the day with 10 points apiece in the standings. The Boilermakers' five-game unbeaten streak is their longest since 2014 and longest in Big Ten play since 2007.
Hase scored in the 23rd and 58th minute. The freshman has four goals this season, three coming in Big Ten play. She also scored the game-winner in Purdue's conference-opening win at Michigan. The Boilermakers extended their goal-scoring streak to 14 consecutive games dating back to the end of last season and remained the only team in the Big Ten yet to be shut out this year.

SUNDAY NOTABLES
- Kylie Hase became the fourth Boilermaker to record a multi-goal game this season, joining Andrea Petrina (2), Maddy Williams (2) and Hannah Mussallem. However, Hase is the first Purdue freshman to accomplish the feat since Erika Arkans in August 2014 and the first freshman to score twice in a Big Ten game since Chinyelu Asher in October 2011.
- The Boilermakers are off to their best start to Big Ten play since the 2007 team was also 4-0-1 on the way to a 6-0-1 start.
- Purdue extended its shutout streak to 265 consecutive minutes after recording back-to-back shutouts for the third time this season. It's the Boilermakers' longest defensive streak in Big Ten play since 2013. Purdue's six shutouts are their most since 2009.
- The Boilermakers swept Illinois and Northwestern in the same season for the sixth time -- 1999, 2005, 2007, 2009, 2013 and 2017.
- Purdue posted its 15th win all-time vs. Northwestern, its most against any opponent. The Boilermakers' 8-2 home record vs. NU is also their best against any Big Ten opponent.
- Williams (252) eclipsed Jessica Okoroafo's Purdue all-time record (250) for shots Sunday, recording four in the win.

Both goals originated with a Sarah Clark corner kick from the east side of the field. On a short corner in the 23rd minute, Sarah Griffith and Maddy Williams teamed up for a give-and-go sequence to help Griffith move into the 18-yard box. Griffith's shot was redirected by Hannah Melchiorre and Hase was in position on the back side of the play to tap the ball in the net after it eluded NU's All-American goalkeeper Lauren Clem.
The Boilermakers also scored on the only corner kick of the second half for either side. In the 58th minute, Williams missed just high with a shot from the top of the 18-yard box. The referee ruled that Clem had gotten her fingertips on the shot to guide it over the crossbar, giving Purdue the corner.
Clark played the corner on the ground to an unmarked Petrina on the inside edge of the 18-yard box. Petrina's shot was on target with pace, producing a big rebound after Clem made the save. The ball fell to Hase at the top of the six-yard box and she buried a shot through traffic inside the left post.
The Boilermakers challenged Clem with nine shots on goal and she made seven saves to help keep her team in the game. Katie Luce also played well in front of the other net. The freshman finished with four saves. Vanessa Korolas also came through with a team save in the 82nd minute, getting her body in front of a header off a free kick service.
Northwestern opened the game aggressively and dominated possession over the first 10 minutes. Purdue withstood the early pressure and slowly leveled the play, culminating in Williams and Petrina both forcing Clem to make tough saves shortly before Hase's first goal. Clem denied Williams of her 10th goal with an impressive diving save to her right. But it was Petrina's shot that led to the corner kick the Boilermakers fully capitalized on.
Maya Lambert, Gabby LaMere, Hannah Mussallem, Clark and Korolas went the distance among the Purdue field players. Katie Stephens logged 21 minutes to lead the reserves.
The Boilermakers hit the road next weekend for a big Wisconsin-Minnesota road trip. Friday's game in Madison is set for an 8 p.m. ET kickoff.
