WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Purdue men's basketball team officially kicked off the 2017-18 season on Friday afternoon in Cardinal Court, with the first of 30 scheduled preseason practices.

The practice was a typical first practice in that there was a lot of instruction and energy in the facility. In addition, much of the practice was spent on new sets and shooting drills. Coach Painter and select student-athletes then met with the media following practice. Painter discussed the recent news involving the FBI's probe into college basketball.

The practice was the first-of-30 preseason practices for Purdue in advance of its season opener Nov. 10, vs. SIU Edwardsville in Mackey Arena.

Tickets are available on PurdueSports.com, by calling 800.49SPORT or by visiting the Mackey Arena ticket office.

Purdue is the defending Big Ten champion, posting a 27-8 record a year ago while advancing to the NCAA Tournament Sweet 16. This year's squad returns six of its top seven scorers, including four seniors that have been a part of 74 wins over the last three years while boasting the best home record in the Big Ten during that span.
